Porcelain veneers are handcrafted, custom designed and custom made thin shells of dental porcelain placed on teeth in your smile zone. They are stain resistant and made to blend in beautifully with surrounding teeth. Using the newest ceramic technology, porcelain veneers can be ultra-thin and therefore placed with minimal tooth drilling. The results will be an amazing and natural-looking smile.
Our AACD Accredited Cosmetic Dentist, Dr. Susan McMahon, will meet you for a consultation to discuss your ideal smile. She will work with you to custom design your smile. During your consultation, we will take a few photos, discuss your desires and expectations for your smile, do a thorough dental examination, and talk over treatment options. Most smile makeovers can be accomplished in just a few weeks.
Chips, stains, and cracks on your front teeth can easily detract from an otherwise attractive appearance. Cosmetic bonding can be a conservative option for some of these dental flaws. Composite bonding is shaping and adhering tooth colored bonding material to front teeth. It is shade matched and polished to a high sheen. Composite bonding can usually be done in a single appointment.
You may associate braces with middle school or high school students, but more adults than ever are turning to orthodontics to improve their bite and reposition their teeth for cosmetic reasons. Modern braces can be made from clear or tooth-colored structures, and some dentists offer clear, removable aligners.
When performed by a dentist, teeth whitening, or bleaching, is quite effective. Your dentist can administer a higher concentration of whitening solution than over-the-counter systems, so the results are more significant. We offer several types of teeth whitening procedures at our Chicago dental office. Your dentist will help you determine the best solution for your unique lifestyle and goals.
Sports accidents, Car accidents, Falls……there are many causes of dental fractures and tooth loss. The most prevalent trauma is a fracture of the crown of the tooth (the part that shows in the mouth), followed by tooth displacement then tooth avulsion. Dental pulp involvement happens about 35% of the time. Falls and playing are the most common causes of dental trauma among adolescents. Dental trauma for adults is most often caused by falls, sports injuries, and automobile accidents.
Teeth that have been injured or lost from trauma can be restored back to their original beauty through cosmetic dentistry. Porcelain veneers or crowns can be used to rebuild fractured teeth. Dental implants can replace teeth that have been displaced or avulsed. Our accredited cosmetic dentist, Dr. Susan McMahon, is highly skilled at restoring sports injuries, car accidents, falls and other dental injuries. Our team of specialists will coordinate all care necessary including endodontics and implant placement to restore the injured teeth back to full function and esthetics.
